More than three decades in Taekwondo
Hamed Konarivand began Taekwondo at the age of six and reached black-belt level as a child. His career developed from national-level competition into international competition, coaching, club development, education and research.
His official biography records selection to the Iranian National Team in 2005 and competition results including the British Open, Indian Open and other international events. Today his work is centered on developing Taekwondo education through Koryo, TaekFunDo and digital projects for coaches and clubs.
Athlete & international competition
Konarivand’s public biography documents a competitive career beginning in Iran and extending to international events. His official biography lists national championship results, selection for Iran’s national team in 2005, participation in the International Fajr Championships, and international medals including the Indian Open. His career later shifted increasingly toward coaching and athlete development.
Independent sources also identify him as a former national champion and long-time Taekwondo instructor. His experience as an athlete remains an important part of the way Koryo approaches technical development and competition preparation.
Founder of Koryo Taekwondo Club
Konarivand founded Koryo Taekwondo Club in 2017. The organization now delivers Taekwondo programs across Geneva, Vaud and the Pays de Gex, with classes for young children, juniors, older students and competition-focused athletes.
Swiss Taekwondo lists Koryo Taekwondo Club with Hamed Konarivand as its contact. Koryo also works in private-school environments in the Geneva region.
TaekFunDo: child-centered martial-arts education
Konarivand created TaekFunDo, a program designed for young children that combines Taekwondo foundations with games, storytelling, progressive rewards and age-appropriate learning. The project grew from his coaching work with children and later became the subject of academic research.
His 2025 research includes Comparative analysis of traditional Taekwondo and Gamified Martial Arts: Insights from the TaekFunDo program and AI-Driven Storytelling and Its Impact on Discipline and Engagement in TaekFunDo, examining gamification, engagement, discipline and learning in young martial-art students.
MyTaek: bringing Taekwondo management online
In 2023, Konarivand created MyTaek, a professional online Taekwondo platform. The project extends his work beyond the physical dojang into digital tools for the Taekwondo ecosystem. MyTaek is part of the wider group of projects presented on his official portfolio alongside Koryo and TaekFunDo.
Research & martial-arts education
Alongside coaching, Konarivand publishes research on martial-arts education and child development. His Google Scholar profile identifies him as a martial-arts researcher affiliated with Koryo Taekwondo Club, with research interests including Taekwondo, child development, sports science, martial-arts education and gamification in training.
His research reflects the same question behind TaekFunDo: how can martial-arts teaching preserve technical standards while becoming more engaging and developmentally appropriate for children?
