Taekwondo for children in Geneva: choosing the right age group

Training room at Koryo Nations, Geneva

Looking for a Taekwondo class for your child in Geneva? Start with their age, then compare the location and class time. Koryo’s Champel and Nations clubs offer different schedules, so choosing a suitable group also depends on where your child will train.

This guide explains the programmes and helps you prepare a trial request. For an overview of the two clubs, visit our Taekwondo in Geneva page.

Ages 4–6: start with TaekFunDo

TaekFunDo introduces early Taekwondo learning through movement and play. The programme works on coordination, following instructions and first techniques. For this age group in Geneva, look at Champel’s Saturday class from 10:00 to 11:00.

Explore the TaekFunDo programme, then check the local class time. Nations currently offers the Junior/Senior session for ages 7–15.

Ages 7–9 at Champel: Koryo Junior

Koryo Junior offers more structured Taekwondo learning, with progressive work on technique, coordination and independence. Champel’s classes for ages 7–9 take place on Tuesday from 17:00 to 18:00 and Saturday from 09:00 to 10:00.

Choose a session that fits your regular weekly routine. Read about the Junior programme for the teaching approach, and use the club page to check the local age group.

Ages 10–15 at Champel: Koryo Senior

The Senior programme supports older students through more demanding technical training. Champel’s classes for ages 10–15 take place on Tuesday and Wednesday from 18:00 to 19:00. A 10-year-old therefore falls within the published Senior class at this club.

General programme age ranges can differ between locations. At a group boundary, use the timetable for your chosen club and ask Koryo to confirm placement before registration. Explore the Senior programme.

How to request a trial

Open the Swiss trial request form, enter your child’s age, then select the club and preferred class. Koryo checks availability before confirming the session. Submitting a request does not itself confirm a booking.

For help preparing your first visit, read our guide to your first Taekwondo trial in Geneva. If you are unsure about an age group or timetable, contact Koryo before choosing.

What if your child will train in France?

The class location determines the registration route, regardless of your language. For Champel or Nations in Switzerland, start with a Koryo trial request. For Gex, Ornex or Saint-Genis-Pouilly in France, explore our Pays de Gex clubs and continue through their official HelloAsso link.

Your first Taekwondo trial in Geneva: a guide for families

Training room at Koryo Nations, Geneva

A first Taekwondo session starts with a practical question: which class fits your child and your weekly routine? At Koryo, you can compare the Geneva locations, check the age group and timetable, and request a free trial online. This guide explains how to make that request and what to confirm with the club before attending.

The Champel class location, Avenue Dumas 23, Geneva.

1. Choose a location you can attend regularly

Koryo has two Geneva locations covered in this guide: Champel, at Avenue Dumas 23, and Nations, at Avenue de Sécheron 11. Start with the location that works for your journey from home or school, then check whether its timetable matches your availability.

The Koryo Geneva location guide brings the two clubs together. Each branch page shows its own groups and timetable, so you can compare the actual options before filling in the trial form.

2. Check the class for your child’s age

Champel offers TaekFunDo for ages 4–6, Koryo Junior for ages 7–9 and Koryo Senior for ages 10–15. Nations lists Junior and Senior classes for children and teenagers aged 7–15. Check the branch page rather than assuming that every programme is available at every location.

If your child is between groups, or you are unsure which class to choose, contact Koryo before submitting your request. The club can confirm the appropriate group for that location.

3. Find a session that fits your week

At Champel, the current weekly timetable is:

DayTimeGroup
Tuesday17:00–18:00Junior, ages 7–9
Tuesday18:00–19:00Senior, ages 10–15
Wednesday18:00–19:00Senior, ages 10–15
Saturday09:00–10:00Junior, ages 7–9
Saturday10:00–11:00TaekFunDo, ages 4–6

For Nations, use the current Nations timetable. Before attending, check the branch page and your confirmation from the club for the session you requested.

4. Request your free trial

Open the free trial section and choose Switzerland for a class in Geneva. Follow the form steps, select the available class and provide the requested contact information. Read the form’s conditions before submitting.

A submitted request is the start of the process. Wait for the club to confirm the session and any practical details before travelling to the venue. If the class you need is not available in the form, ask the club about the options rather than selecting a different session just to complete the request.

5. Confirm the practical details

Before your first visit, ask what your child should wear, whether any equipment is needed and how to find the entrance. If your child is new to Taekwondo, mention this so the instructor knows it is a first session. After the trial, ask about the suitable group, ongoing timetable and enrolment arrangements.
